North Valleys hasn't had much luck against Elko recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The North Valleys Panthers will be playing at home against the Elko Indians at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
North Valleys is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Wooster: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that North Valleys blew Wooster out of the water with a 63-18 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 21 points or more this season.

North Valleys relied on the efforts of Annika Hester, who posted 22 points along with eight boards and three steals, and Ivy Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Williams is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexys DeCremer, who had four points in addition to six rebounds and five blocks.
North Valleys smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, everything went Elko's way against Spring Creek on Wednesday as Elko made off with a 42-22 win. The Indians have beaten the Spartans the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.
Elko's win came from a few key players North Valleys will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jessica Vera, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Lindsey Johns was another key player, putting up nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.
North Valleys' victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. As for Elko, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: North Valleys hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.3 points per game. It's a different story for Elko, though, as they've been averaging only 39.5 points. The only thing between North Valleys and another offensive beatdown is Elko. Will they be able to keep them contained?
North Valleys was able to grind out a solid victory over Elko in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 65-54. Will North Valleys repeat their success, or does Elko have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
