Basketball Game Preview: Kenston Bombers vs. Mayfield Wildcats

The Kenston Bombers will head out on the road to face off against the Mayfield Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Kenston was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to Aurora.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mayfield duked it out withTwinsburg on Saturday. Mayfield fell 69-59 to Twinsburg. The Wildcats have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Mayfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Manny Rogers went 6 for 9 on his way to 20 points and five assists. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for Rogers. Another player making a difference was Aarav Ganore, who went 7 of 10 en route to 15 points.

Kenston has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Mayfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Kenston was dealt a bruising 72-45 defeat at the hands of Mayfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Kenston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
