Baseball Recap: Foxfire Comes Up Short

Foxfire had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it five. They came up short against the Cristo Rey Cougar, falling 13-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougar this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-2 last Thursday.

As for Cristo Rey, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

For Cristo Rey's part, James Green made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Green also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cristo Rey is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Green was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Green is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Nicolas Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hassan Sidibeh, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Foxfire does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cristo Rey, they will venture away from home to square off against Granville Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
