After a string of four wins, Cibola's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Mesa Jackrabbits. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Jackrabbits are ranked 22nd).

Mesa got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jakyi Miles out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The matchup was Miles' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Daijon Grayson, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Cibola's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Mesa, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Cibola has already played their next game, a 56-48 defeat against Mountain View on the 25th. As for Mesa, they will square off against Red Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Red Mountain sitting on seven straight wins and Mesa on nine.
