Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers vs. Monticello Sages

The Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers will head out to square off against the Monticello Sages at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Pulaski will be strutting in after a win while Monticello will be coming in after a loss.

Mt. Pulaski barely beat Warrensburg-Latham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hilltoppers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 16-4 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Hilltoppers, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Monticello's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 4-1 to Champaign Central. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Sages couldn't push the score so high this time.

The win made it two in a row for Mt. Pulaski and bumps their season record up to 20-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Monticello, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-5.
