Softball Recap: Southampton Academy Extends Winning Streak to Four

Southampton Academy came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Tidewater Academy Warriors. Considering the Raiders have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Claire White and Dutchess Rose made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, White pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Rose didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave White a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, White went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs and one stolen base, while Rose got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Southampton Academy got a massive performance out of Bryce Holland, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was Holland's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Hodges, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Southampton Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are undefeated (4-0) when they post 11 or more hits.

Southampton Academy's record now sits at 6-4-1. As for Tidewater Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southampton Academy will take on Atlantic Shores Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tidewater Academy, they will face off against Surry County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
