League recap: Burns tops East Burke to extend winning streak

3A/2A Conference 4 recap October 1, 2013

Burns extended the longest winning streak in 3A/2A Conference 4 this week by beating East Burke, 55-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Bulldogs.

Chase and Draughn played the most contested game in the league this week, with Chase eventually emerging with a 13-7 victory.

RJ George threw for 247 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 9-14 with 1 interception.

Tico Crocker was the best wideout in the league this week as Kings Mountain lost to Shelby. Crocker racked up 7 receptions for 90 yards. Khalil Hopper helped Kings Mountain's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 15 yards.

6-foot-0 quarterback George of the Golden Lions is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,308. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Crocker. The Kings Mountain star has 29 catches for 427 yards.

A big matchup in 3A/2A Conference 4 this week will be when Burns takes on East Rutherford. Matt Beam's team is currently in first, while the Cavaliers are in fifth.

Shelby took down the Mountaineers 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. George ran for 10 yards in the win.
