Softball Game Preview: Lake Shore Eagles vs. Depew Wildcats

The Lake Shore Eagles are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Depew Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lake Shore proved they can win big on April 7th (they won by nine) and two weeks ago they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Silver Creek 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Black Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Depew strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Maryvale with a sharp 17-1 win. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Depew's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average this season. As for Lake Shore, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Lake Shore came up short against Depew in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
