Basketball Recap: Natalie Doan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mount Dora Christian Academy over the Villages Charter

After flying high against Umatilla last Tuesday, Mount Dora Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs received a blow on Thursday as they fell 54-37 to The Villages Charter Buffalo. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 80-49 back in November of 2024.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Natalie Doan, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Doan has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aranya Alexander, who posted 12 points.

The Villages Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Herva Brutus, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Zion Mcrae was another key player, putting up 15 points and three steals.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's record now sits at 8-6. As for The Villages Charter, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Mount Dora Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-37 win against Altamonte Christian on the 10th. As for The Villages Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-22 victory against Flagler Palm Coast on the 11th.
