Soccer Recap: Montbello Comes Up Short

There was early excitement for Montbello after they claimed the first goal on Tuesday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell 3-1 to the Regis Groff Fusion. While losing is never fun, Montbello can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Regis Groff are ranked 26th).

Montbello's goal came courtesy of Sergio Venegas, who's now up to seven this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Montbello and nudges their season record down to 5-7-1. As for Regis Groff, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 8-2-1 record this season.

Montbello has already played their next match (against Thomas Jefferson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Regis Groff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 4-0 victory against Lincoln on the 16th.
