Preview: Richards Warriors vs. Catalyst-Maria Wolves
Richards is 0-1 against Catalyst-Maria since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Richards Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Catalyst-Maria Wolves at 3:45 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Richards is ranked 481st, while Catalyst-Maria is ranked 500th).
Richards can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Agricultural Science and snuck past 20-18. The victory was just what Richards needed coming off of a 34-8 defeat in their prior match.
Richards got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Quincy Johnson out in front who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Antorion Abron, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Catalyst-Maria fell victim to Englewood Stem's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Panthers 36-0. Catalyst-Maria has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Richards' win lifted them to 2-6 while Catalyst-Maria's loss dropped them down to 1-7.
Richards took a serious blow against Catalyst-Maria in their previous meeting back in September of 2016, falling 44-12. Can Richards avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
