Basketball Recap: Benjamin Dodge's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bloomfield over Boyd County

Bloomfield suffered their closest defeat since January 19, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Boyd County Spartans by a score of 47-44. The loss continues a trend for the Bees in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

Bloomfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Benjamin Dodge, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Dodge is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Keldon Loecker, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Boyd County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Hoffman, who put up 13 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Hoffman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Charlie Adams, who posted 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Bloomfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Boyd County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Bloomfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-25 loss against Creighton on the 3rd. As for Boyd County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-29 defeat against Wausa on the 3rd.
