Softball Recap: Emery's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Emery can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Everything went their way against the Carbon Dinos as they made off with a 14-4 victory. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Spartans this season.

Aliee Wilde looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aleeyah Cowley was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Morgan Tuttle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Emery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

The win was their first at home, bumping their record up to 3-14. As for Carbon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emery will take on Manti at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Templars have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Carbon, they will challenge Richfield at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
