Basketball Recap: Nickerson Takes a Loss

Nickerson managed to slip by St. John the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers took a blow against the Tigers on Monday, falling 60-31. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it 12 in a row dating back to last season.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Weber, who posted six points and nine boards. Riley Brawner was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Leading St. John to victory were Emmett Delp and Wyatt Mawhirter. Delp had 22 points, while Mawhirter earned 16 points. Those 16 points gave Mawhirter a new career-high.

Nickerson's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. John, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nickerson will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Plainville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. John, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Holcomb at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
