League recap: Wilber-Clatonia bests Sandy Creek in blowout

C1 District 6 recap October 22, 2013

Wilber-Clatonia took down Sandy Creek 53-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Michael Gushard ran for 133 yards during the win.

Gushard was a passing and rushing force as the Wolverines topped the Cougars.

Dalton Hinrichs put up the best numbers in passing as Fairbury fell to Milford. He finished with 3 completions for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hinrichs' favorite target this week was Nate Klaumann, who caught 5 passes for 75 yards.

6-foot-0 quarterback Blake Skolaut of Sandy Creek is the league leader in passing yards this season with 809. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Klaumann. The Fairbury star has 21 catches for 420 yards.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Jeffs' Klaumann goes up against Wilber-Clatonia's Sam Troshynski.

An important game coming up in C1 District 6 this week will be when Lynn Jurgen's team takes on Fairbury. The Wolverines are in first place, while Derek Garfield's team is in fourth place.

The Eagles led the league in scoring this week by notching 62 points on the Jeffs.
