Softball Recap: St. John Paul II Takes a Loss

St. John Paul II fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Columbia on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Columbia Eagles by a score of 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Skylar Mullins spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Kyley Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

St. John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Columbia, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

St. John Paul II will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Decatur Heritage Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on March 17th. Columbia also won't see the field for a while: their next match is against Buckhorn at 4:30 p.m. on March 18th.
