Football Recap: Valley Oaks Charter Falls to Immanuel Christian in First Game of Season

Valley Oaks Charter unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Immanuel Christian Crusaders and fell 44-6. The Coyotes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-6.

Even if they lost, Valley Oaks Charter's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Maverick Mack was especially locked on to Immanuel Christian's QB and sacked him twice.

Immanuel Christian found their leader in freshman Romelle Harris, who rushed for 165 yards and four TDs on only eight carries. Harris didn't just play on offense: he also made two total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass. Another player making a difference was Mazyn Weaver, who threw for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven passes.

Looking ahead, Valley Oaks Charter will welcome New Designs Watts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Immanuel Christian, they will head out to square off against Desert at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
