Volleyball Recap: Pine River-Backus Escapes with a Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Pine River-Backus challenged Upsala on Saturday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cardinals 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Zoey Leners stepped up in the loss, getting 19 kills, 14 digs, and four solo blocks. Another player making a difference was Genevieve Mrozek, who had eight digs, six kills, and four aces.

Pine River-Backus now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Upsala, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Upsala wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against East Central on the 12th.
