Preview: Ben Lomond Scots vs. Morgan Trojans
The Ben Lomond Scots will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Morgan Trojans at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Ben Lomond's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
Ben Lomond pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-60 to Grantsville. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Wednesday (56), Ben Lomond still had to take the loss.
Despite their defeat, Ben Lomond saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jake East, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Harrison, who scored 20 points.
Meanwhile, even though South Summit scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Morgan still came out on top. Morgan snuck past South Summit with a 59-55 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given Morgan's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while South Summit is ranked 15th).
Ben Lomond has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Morgan, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.
Ben Lomond took a serious blow against Morgan in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 67-37. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Ben Lomond was down 41-15.
