Basketball Game Preview: Grapevine Faith Christian Lions vs. Trinity Christian Lions

For the first time this season, Grapevine Faith Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be home for the holidays to greet Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grapevine Faith Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Grapevine Faith Christian saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 72-68 to Richland. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (59), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Frisco on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 62-58 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Raccoons are ranked 312th).

Grapevine Faith Christian better keep an eye on Jet Naegele. He was instrumental in Trinity Christian's win, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 29 points and six rebounds. What's more, Naegele also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February. John Cooper was another key player, going 6-for-10 to rack up 12 points.

Grapevine Faith Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Trinity Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Grapevine Faith Christian was dealt a bruising 92-59 defeat at the hands of Trinity Christian when the teams last played back in February. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Grapevine Faith Christian was down 46-22.
