Softball Game Preview: Mishawaka Marian Knights vs. South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies

Mishawaka Marian is 0-10 against South Bend Saint Joseph since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Knights will host the Huskies at 5:00 p.m.

Mishawaka Marian is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hammond Morton.

Chloe Weber put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Annie Verslype was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Halle Pedraza, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, South Bend Saint Joseph came into Tuesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Elkhart 8-7.

Myla Blazejewski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camille Potter, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Esquibel, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

South Bend Saint Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

South Bend Saint Joseph's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Mishawaka Marian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
