Basketball Recap: Burlington's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Burlington won the last time they faced Haxtun, and Weston Schaal did his part to make sure it happened again. The Burlington Cougars snuck past the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs with a 52-48 win on Saturday thanks in part to Schaal, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high.

Haxtun lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryland Wolff, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Wolff is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Madden Larsen, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Burlington's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6. As for Haxtun, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Burlington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-52 win against Calhan on the 29th. As for Haxtun, they will venture away from home to square off against Holyoke at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
