Basketball Game Preview: Live Oak Classical Falcons vs. Lutheran Mustangs

The Live Oak Classical Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Lutheran Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Lutheran will be up against a hot Live Oak Classical team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Live Oak Classical blew past Faith Academy 58-27 on Saturday. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Live Oak Classical relied on the efforts of Stella Sriram, who posted 12 points and four steals, and Campbell Ogden, who put up 11 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Ogden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy McEachern, who scored eight points.

Live Oak Classical smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lutheran). Everything went their way against Faith Academy on Thursday as Lutheran made off with a 71-49 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Live Oak Classical pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.1 points. As for Lutheran, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Everything came up roses for Live Oak Classical against Lutheran in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 59-30 win. Does Live Oak Classical have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lutheran turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
