Baseball Recap: Salem Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Salem's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They never let the Roxana Shells get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Noah Nix's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Salem is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Salem's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rhett Detering, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Detering has posted since back in March.

Salem moved to 9-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Roxana, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6-1.

Looking ahead, Roxana is taking a road trip to square off against Marquette Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem will be paying especially close attention to the Shells' match: after the Shells face off against the Explorers, they'll take on Salem again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
