Baseball Recap: Slocum Comes Up Short

Slocum extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against the Oakwood Panthers, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Tuesday.

Cole Jordan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Creede Kessel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Oakwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Oakwood's side, they got a massive performance out of Dayden Velasquez, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Velasquez has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Harrison, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Slocum will host North Zulch at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakwood, they will be playing at home against Trinidad at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
