Softball Recap: Hamilton Wins Going Away Against Fairfax

Hamilton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Fairfax on Wednesday. The Yankees put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 17-0 victory. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Yankees yet this season.

Marlena Gauff was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Martinez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Hamilton lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Hamilton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Fairfax, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.

As of now, neither Hamilton nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
