Baseball Recap: Point Pleasant Beach Takes a Loss

Point Pleasant Beach fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Barnegat on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bengals by a score of 10-9. The Garnet Gulls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Point Pleasant Beach got a massive performance out of DANIEL STORCH, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. NOAH BANICK was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Point Pleasant Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Barnegat, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Point Pleasant Beach will challenge Toms River North at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Mariners have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Barnegat, they will face off against Brick Township at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
