Basketball Recap: Northampton County Falls Despite Big Games from Kaiyah Cherry and Kaniyah Bottoms

Northampton County lost against Northwest Halifax back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Northampton County Jaguars took a 37-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northwest Halifax Vikings.

Northampton County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaniyah Bottoms, who posted 11 points, and Kaiyah Cherry, who earned 11 points and six boards. Those 11 points gave Bottoms a new career-high.

Northampton County's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Northwest Halifax, they pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northampton County will head out to challenge North Edgecombe at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Northwest Halifax, they and Weldon will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
