Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Allie Thornton and Carissa Compton Lead Clinton Christian Academy to Victory

Clinton Christian Academy waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Christian Learning Center Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in August.

Clinton Christian Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-13.

Leading Clinton Christian Academy to victory were Carissa Compton and Allie Thornton. Compton had 30 digs, while Thornton had five aces and two assists. Those five aces gave Thornton a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Clinton Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive matchups.

Clinton Christian Academy's record now sits at 13-4-1. As for Christian Learning Center, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Clinton Christian Academy has already played their next contest (against Heartland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Christian Learning Center, they will take on Overland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
