Baseball Recap: Durant Gets the Win

Durant proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks 2-1. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 victory the Golden Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2025.

Colby Gast made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Durant is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mid-Prairie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

Durant will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
