Volleyball Recap: Dellanie Murphy Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Varsity Opponent

While Bloomfield's win against Varsity Opponent wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cardinals skirted past Varsity Opponent 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with Varsity Opponent: they've now won nine in a row.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (103-101) Bloomfield actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-22, 17-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Bloomfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dellanie Murphy, who had 19 digs, nine kills, and five aces. With that strong performance, Murphy is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game. Peyton Koon was another key player, getting 16 digs, seven kills, four aces, and two blocks.

They weren't the only good servers: Bloomfield was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in nine consecutive contests.

Bloomfield's victory bumped their record up to 5-15.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Bloomfield and Windham will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Varsity Opponent, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Founders Classical Academy on the 8th.
