Basketball Recap: Canon City Takes a Loss

Canon City played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 62-38 to the Silver Creek Raptors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 64-47 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Luke Schmeeckle, who posted 21 points and seven boards. The matchup was his third in a row with at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Gorr, who put up seven points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Canon City dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Silver Creek, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Canon City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-32 loss against Roosevelt on the 5th. As for Silver Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-42 win against Pueblo County on the 5th.
