Preview: Boerne Greyhounds vs. Fredericksburg Billies

Boerne has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Fredericksburg Billies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Boerne has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 386 points over their last nine matches.

Boerne stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Somerset as Boerne made off with a 31-7 victory. Given Boerne's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Somerset is ranked 514th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thomas (t.j.) Dement was a one-man wrecking crew for Boerne as he rushed for 213 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Dement's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Hutson Hendrix was in the mix too, providing Boerne with three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Fredericksburg got themselves on the board against John F. Kennedy on Friday, but John F. Kennedy never followed suit. They breezed by the Rockets on the road to the tune of 42-0.

Fredericksburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooks Immel, who threw for 102 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Luke Harkleroad, who gained 123 total yards and two touchdowns.

Boerne's win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.08 points. As for Fredericksburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Boerne against Fredericksburg when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 42-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boerne since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
