Anderson County and Boyle County are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bearcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rebels at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Anderson County has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Boyle County will arrive with three straight wins.

On Friday, Anderson County came up short against North Oldham and fell 5-1.

Blake Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anderson County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Case, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI was Case's first of the season.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Boyle County and Somerset have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Rebels blew past the Briar Jumpers 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Ethan Milburn, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Perry, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Boyle County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson County, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Anderson County came out on top in a nail-biter against Boyle County when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Bearcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
