Basketball Recap: Alma Piles Up the Points Against Franklin

A well-balanced attack led Alma over Franklin in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Alma Cardinals blew the Franklin Flyers out of the water with a 62-20 final score. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Alma was led to victory by Zavier Mitchell and Tucker Biskup. Mitchell went 8 of 9 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and six steals, while Biskup went 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points. The contest was Biskup's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Titus Epp, who posted seven points.

Eldon Haack and Caiden Peterman certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Haack had four points and eight rebounds, while Peterman put up seven points. Haack is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.

Alma's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27 points. As for Franklin, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Alma didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-32 victory against Axtell on the 11th. As for Franklin, they will challenge Heartland Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heartland Lutheran has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
