Basketball Recap: Deja Burns Key Part of a Team Effort in Stallions Win

Sierra won the last time they faced Sand Creek and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Sierra Stallions came out on top against the Sand Creek Scorpions by a score of 39-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Stallions.

Sierra's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deja Burns, who dropped a double-double with 12 boards and ten blocks. Sierra is 8-2 when Burns posts five or more blocks, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Marisa Reyes, who went 7 for 12 to rack up 15 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Sierra was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sand Creek only posted three assists.

Sand Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rylie Lopez, who posted four points.

Sierra's record is now 10-6. As for Sand Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Sierra didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 32-21 victory against Elizabeth on the 6th. As for Sand Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 43-17 loss against Falcon on the 6th.
