Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Blue Devils vs. Averill Park Warriors

The Columbia Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Averill Park Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbia has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Columbia's last matchup with Christian Brothers Academy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Monday. The Blue Devils came up short against the Brothers, falling 18-5. The Blue Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Columbia got a good showing from Dillon Mulligan, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Ronan Kreshik made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Stilson, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, while Averill Park put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for South Glens Falls. The Warriors put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 11-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Averill Park, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.

Columbia came out on top in a nail-biter against Averill Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
