Baseball Recap: Creek Wood Find Success

Creek Wood pushed their score to 18 the last time they played Fairview, but on Monday they couldn't quite do it again. Creek Wood narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Fairview 3-1. While the Red Hawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Carter Hull spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Hunter Bennett was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Cody Burgess also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Creek Wood and bumps their season record up to 12-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Fairview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-3.

Creek Wood will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fairview: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
