With a playoff win on the line, Claremont rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Apple Valley Sun Devils 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Wolfpack sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Wyatt Green spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Claremont is 7-2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Claremont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ramzey Farah, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Claremont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive matchups.

Claremont pushed their record up to 14-12-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Apple Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-7.

Looking ahead, Claremont will face off against Thousand Oaks at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wolfpack surely won't give up without a fight. Apple Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
