Softball Game Preview: Boyne Falls Loggers vs. Pickford Panthers

The Boyne Falls Loggers will take on the Pickford Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pickford took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Boyne Falls, who comes in off a win.

Pickford will be up against a hot Boyne Falls squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. The Loggers put the hurt on Forest Area with a sharp 16-3 win on Thursday.

Mackenzie Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Brown was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauryn Matelski, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Lilli Fenske was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Pickford came up short against Boyne City on Monday, falling 17-2.
