Softball Game Preview: Beyer Patriots vs. Pioneer Patriots

Beyer will venture away from home to take on Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Beyer's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Pioneer's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Beyer is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Twelve Bridges get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Audrina Urias was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Pioneer came tearing into Wednesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Cougars 16-1. Considering the Patriots have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Pioneer got a massive performance out of Sofia Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Marisa Bryson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Pioneer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Pioneer's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Beyer, their win bumped their record up to 21-7.
