6A District 5 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Gainesville extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 5 this week by beating Lecanto, 49-0. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Hurricanes.
Gainesville led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on the Panthers.
Vanguard's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Adam Robles threw for 191 and one touchdown and Natrelle Jamerson had 108 yards receiving. On the ground Tyronte Files chipped in 49 yards. Zaghaun Thornton helped Vanguard's passing attack out by catching four balls for 59 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Robles of the Knights is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1438. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. On the ground, Citrus's Darius Chapes has rushed for 857 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Shawn Evans. The Lake Weir star has 39 catches for 572 yards.
Lecanto made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,888 from 8,008. The advance stemmed from a 49-0 victory over McKinley Rolle's team last week.
