Basketball Recap: Delano Drops Highest Score of Season Against Orange Cove

While Delano didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past the Orange Cove Titans with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 62-43. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Delano's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eduardo Mendoza, who posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Mendoza a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Amodo, who earned 15 points and six rebounds.

Delano was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Delano has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Orange Cove, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Delano will challenge Foothill at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Orange Cove, they will square off against Fowler at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
