Basketball Game Preview: Michigan Collegiate Cougars vs. Mt. Clemens Battling Bathers

Michigan Collegiate is 1-7 against Mt. Clemens since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Michigan Collegiate Cougars will welcome the Mt. Clemens Battling Bathers at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Michigan Collegiate comes in on three and Mt. Clemens on four.

Last Tuesday, Michigan Collegiate didn't have too much trouble with Arts & Tech as they won 51-36.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Clemens). They enjoyed a cozy 52-37 win over Chandler Park Academy on Tuesday.

Mt. Clemens' win came from a few key players Michigan Collegiate will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Leah Williams, who posted 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacqueline Barrientos, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 16 points.

Mt. Clemens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Michigan Collegiate is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Mt. Clemens, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Michigan Collegiate didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mt. Clemens in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 38-32 win. Will Michigan Collegiate repeat their success, or does Mt. Clemens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
