Softball Recap: Sullivan Takes a Loss

If Sullivan was riding high fresh off their 21-1 takedown of Okaw Valley on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Redskins fell just short of the Arcola Purple Riders by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Redskins have struggled against the Purple Riders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Sullivan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harmony Ray, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Sullivan's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Arcola, they pushed their record up to 7-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Sullivan will be playing at home against Taylorville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tornadoes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.2 runs per game on average), something the Redskins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arcola, they are taking a road trip to challenge Arthur-Okaw Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Purple Riders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Conquering Riders have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
