Softball Recap: Belvidere North Drops Highest Score of Season Against Rockford Auburn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belvidere North). They blew past the Rockford Auburn Knights 21-2 on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Blue Thunder, who have now won three contests in a row.

Ava Morris made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Morris was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last four matchups.

In other batting news, Belvidere North got a massive performance out of Jenna Yakey, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Yakey has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one triple.

Belvidere North hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Belvidere North pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Rockford Auburn, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Belvidere North didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 win against Boylan Catholic on the 25th. As for Rockford Auburn, they have also already played their next match, a 10-3 victory against Freeport on the 25th.
