Basketball Recap: Will Spurgeon Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Argos

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Jimtown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They managed a 48-44 victory over the Argos Dragons. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Jimmies also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jimtown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Spurgeon, who posted 12 points and five steals. Spurgeon has become a key player for Jimtown: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Javen Jackson, who went 5-for-8 en route to 10 points and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Argos lost, don't look at Luke Stults. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. That was a full 47.7% of Argos' points, marking the tenth time in a row Stults has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Trump, who put up five points.

Jimtown now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Argos, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jimtown will take on Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jimtown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season. As for Argos, they will host Elkhart Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
