Basketball Game Preview: Goddard Lions vs. Salina Central Mustangs

Goddard is 0-10 against Salina Central since January of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions will be home for the holidays to greet the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It was a proper cat-fight when Goddard challenged Andover Central on Friday. The Lions took a hard 47-32 fall against the Jaguars. The loss put an end to the Lions' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Goddard had strong showings from Mackenzie Zimmer, who posted five points and three steals, and Presley Schmidt, who had 11 points and eight boards. Schmidt is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Salina Central ended up a good deal behind South on Friday and lost 51-32. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Goddard fell to 2-1. As for Salina Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Goddard came up short against Salina Central when the teams last played back in February, falling 44-37. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
