Baseball Recap: Biloxi Falls Short of Oak Grove in the Playoffs

Biloxi and Oak Grove squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Biloxi had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-1. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Shawn Gollott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Biloxi's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 6-3 (and 6-13 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Adam Rugg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Biloxi's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Oak Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Biloxi nor Oak Grove have any future games scheduled.
