Recap: St. George's Gryphons vs. Covington Chargers
After flying high against Fayette Academy last Monday, St. George came back down to earth. The St. George's Gryphons fell just short of the Covington Chargers by a score of 7-6 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. George's of the 10-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
Hayden Redd was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Zeke Cowell was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
St. George's now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Covington, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. George's will take on Jackson Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Covington, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Munford at 6:30 a.m. on Monday. Covington and Munford are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
